Green Chemistry Campus welcomes Planty Pot
As from December 1st, Planty Pot will establish itself on the Green Chemistry Campus.
Out of agricultural residuals Planty Pot BV manufactures plant pots that are environmentally friendly and bio degradable. Planty Pots are made out of waste material from the potatoe industry. The waste stream starch which is released from the cutting of fries and chips is collected and processed (upgraded) into bio plastic. In brief: out of a waste stream which isn't suitable for human or animal consumption Planty Pot manufactures plant pots. With this, Planty Pot offers an excellent alternative to the pots that are made out of oil based plastic.
Green Chemistry Campus excellent location to accelerate biobased business
Vincent van Rijsewijk from Planty Pot: "The Green Chemistry Campus is currently the 'hotbed' where it sizzles and bubbles when it comes to the biobased economy. This is where we belong, where we can add something and where we can expand our existing business, further strengthen our R&D lines and generate ideas to develop new business."
Planty Pot is now in a phase of market introduction, while at the same time still considerable efforts are put in continuous improvement and innovation. Because Planty Pot is increasingly making its entrance into the market, the company also gets more and more informed feedback that helps them to improve their products. The high-quality facilities at the Green Chemistry Campus, the specialist technical knowledge and the biobased network ensure Van Rijsewijk that at the Campus the solution to achieve innovations only lays one or two steps ahead of him.
Promote the Biobased Economy
Rijsewijk works out of a personal mission to contribute to a sustainable society where waste does not exist, but rather forms a commodity to new products and materials. The idea of the Planty Pot emerged from the desire to contribute to the prevention of the pollution of rivers, seas and oceans (plastic soup) caused by oil based plastics. Planty Pot does so by manufacturing environmentally friendly, biodegradable plant pots out of residual streams from the agricultural sector. In addition, the company is determined to promote the biobased economy, together with other companies. Planty Pot envisages that the Green Chemistry Campus has plenty of opportunities available to share knowledge, exchange information and create awareness of biobased opportunities and exploit them.
Sixteenth company that settles on Green Chemistry Campus
Planty Pot is already the sixteenth organization that settles on the Campus since its opening in September 2011. Earlier this year, the Campus already welcomed Progression Industry, DPI Value Centre, Groene Vaert, VITO, Nimaro Ageno Consult and Nettenergy.
