Deloitte: Biobased Delta international hotspot
The sugar fermentation study by Deloitte resulted in pleased reactions in ‘Biobased Netherlands’ at the end of 2014, as it showed the potential of the Netherlands in a powerful international playing field. The study was recently followed up by a new report, also by Deloitte, concerning the strengths and weaknesses of the Biobased Delta.

BIO World Congress in Montreal ‘Beehive of Progress’
The BIO World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology in Montreal took place from the 19th until the 22nd of July 2015. Biorizon was represented in the Holland Biotech Pavilion, which included 12 Dutch organizations and companies with a focus on biotechnology, biochemistry, energy, feedstock production, transport and logistics.

New €200 million EU call for bioeconomy proposals launched
Europe’s bio-based economy will receive a major boost with the announcement of a new, over €200 million call for proposals on June 26 for the Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI JU).

Does the dashboard of the future grow at SABIC?
June 2015 SABIC, Green Chemistry Campus and NNRGY Crops revealed elephant grass that was planted by NNRGY Crops on the premises of SABIC in Bergen op Zoom. At the Campus NNRGY Crops will investigate how fibres derived from elephant grass can be used to reinforce performance plastics, such as dashboards in cars. This project actively contributes to the establishment of a biobased economy in the region.
