New demo facility GCC completed structurally
An important milestone for the Green Chemistry Campus: the new demo facility that enables biobased entrepreneurs to scale up their innovations has been completed structurally. During the build, sustainable materials were used as much as possible. Currently the finishing touches are being made to the pavement and in the coming period the interior will be set up according to the wishes of the future tenants. The facility appears to be very popular due to the unique possibilities and facilities.

Rubia 100% Natural Colours moves to Green Chemistry Campus
As of today, Rubia 100% Natural Colours moves to the Green Chemistry Campus in Bergen op Zoom. Rubia 100% Natural Colours produces natural colours for the carpet, textile and clothing industry. The company has developed a patented technology to extract colours from plants. At the Campus, Rubia aims to develop new, innovative techniques in cooperation with the Colour Application Center of Avans Hogeschool and ROC West-Brabant.

Separation/fractionation of lignin oils via membrane separation technology
Within the BIO-HArT project Biorizon co-initiator VITO succeeded in using membrane separation technology to separate lignin oils based on molecular weight via a cascade process by using 2 membranes in series. Different fractions of lignin derivatives enriched in either monomers or oligomers can be successfully produced with the developed protocols.

Biorizon Lignin Application Center for superior biobased products
For companies that would like to introduce lignin-derived chemicals into their biobased products, Biorizon launches its Biorizon Lignin Application Center at the Green Chemistry Campus. The aim: to develop valorization routes for lignin and to create materials such as resins and composites that outperform their fossil-based counterparts.
